Drumfunk

Drumfunk is drum & bass that refuses to march along a ready-made two-step grid and instead climbs inside the breakbeat with a tray of surgical instruments. Breaks are sliced into syllables, accents are displaced, ghost swing is restored, and old funk records are put on unpaid overtime. Bass holds the foundations and atmosphere thickens the air, but the lead character is the living, constantly mutating drum part. Paradox and Nucleus turned this obsession into a discipline: not faster, but slyer, more physical and more dangerous. If your legs are tangled up, it means the drumsurgeon performed the surgery successfully.
